DearFriendsofJockeyClubCollegeoftheVeterinaryMedicineandLifeSciences(JCC),
Welcome to this edition of Critters. It is the first anniversary of the international accreditation of our Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) Programme by the UK based Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) andtheAustralianbasedAustralasianVeterinaryBoardsCouncil(AVBC).
We have now graduated two cohorts of veterinarians and continue to admit the best and brightest students to the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences (JCC) to all of our undergraduate and postgraduateprograms.
Preparations are well underway for our Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences program to be the next undergraduate program to receive dual accreditation by Institute of Biomedical Sciences, UK and the Medical Laboratory Technologists Board, Hong Kong). This will further ensure the competitiveness of our graduatesintheirprofessionalcareerdevelopment.
Our partnership with Cornell University continues to thrive as reflected by the ongoing success of our joint PhD programme and the introduction of the BVM Flagship Scholarships (https://www.cityu.edu.hk/jcc/education/undergraduate-programmes/bachelor-veterinary-medicine/flagshipscholarships), which enable top performing students admitted into the BVM program to pursue additional summer research and clinical programmes at Cornell. Earlier in 2024 President Freddy Boey and I visited Cornell to meet with the President, Provost and Dean of Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine and celebrate15yearssincethefirstCornellagreementwassignedbetweenourtwoinstitutionsin2009.
As you read through this issues of Critters you will see that the JCC is going from strength to strength - both thrivingandmaturing.
