The Tree Streets Historic District covers one of the oldest residential neighborhoods in Waynesboro. Built in 1926 as a vaudeville theater, the Wayne has long been a recognizable fixture of downtown Waynesboro. Fully restored in 2016 into the state-of-the-art Ross Performing Arts Center at the Wayne Theatre, the facility hosts local, regional, and nationally acclaimed music and drama acts and educational programming.
In recent years, Waynesboro has seen an explosion of public art in the form of murals. The Virginia Street Arts Festival was started in Waynesboro and has produced more than a dozen unique and eye-catching murals.
