Waynesboro Heritage Museum

Catch top-notch performing arts at the Wayne Theatre.

Built in 1926 as a vaudeville theater, the Wayne has long been a recognizable fixture of downtown Waynesboro. Fully restored in 2016 into the state-of-the-art Ross Performing Arts Center at the Wayne Theatre, the facility hosts local, regional, and nationally acclaimed music and drama acts and educational programming.

Blue Ridge Tunnel

1. Walk, skate, or bike the Greenway Trail. The 2-mile paved Greenway Trail near downtown offers great views of the South River and resident wildlife. On the north end of the trail, Constitution Park showcases the Waynesboro Arboretum and our unique LOVEworks sign—perfect for a family photo op!

2. Add some drama to your life. The historic Wayne Theatre regularly presents family-friendly shows and movies—many at a “pay what you will” price tag. Check out their Arts Education performances, specially geared for young people.

3. Do some toe dipping in the South River. Kids love wading in the shallow play area of the river in Ridgeview Park. Playground equipment and shady benches are in close proximity.

4. Visit a farm. The Shenandoah Valley is Virginia’s premier agricultural region. Don’t miss the chance to experience sheep shearing, cheese making, beekeeping, goat cuddling, corn mazes, llama trekking, and plenty more! Start the adventure at FieldsOfGold.org

5. Find “The Jewel of the Blue Ridge Mountains.” Nicknamed that by locals, Sherando Lake Recreation Area is a natural playground hidden in a national forest.
