Parks

ugar Hill may be a growing city, but we know that places to play are just as important as places to live and work. Making its debut in 2020, Gold Mine Park on Level Creek Road features ruins of a longdormant gold mine, preserving the history of early Sugar Hill residents who mined in the area of our modern-day downtown. The 9.2-acre park will also serve as a trailhead for the Sugar Hill Greenway. Gary Pirkle Park (located off Suwanee Dam Rd.) offers plenty of space for play and programming, like the rocket launch marking the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11. Pirkle Park is home to one of the largest synthetic turf fields in the Southeast, a shaded playground, two miles of paved and lighted walking trails, and the Sugar Hill Community Garden (pg. 23). Also in Sugar Hill, Gwinnett County’s E.E. Robinson Park offers space for play and exercise. The north section provides community baseball and softball fields as well as volleyball and pickleball courts. The southern section of the park offers a multi-purpose turf field, splash pad, tennis courts, playground, and walking trails connected to the Sugar Hill Greenway.

GREENWAY

Amidst decades of remarkable growth, Sugar Hill remains committed to the preservation of green space and new ways to connect our community. The Sugar Hill Greenway (currently under construction) creates a trail network designed for pedestrians, cyclists, joggers, and other non-motorized users. Once completed, the paved pathway will link key places throughout our city including The E Center, parks, and Sugar Hill Elementary.

A new park on Hwy. 20 includes plans for additional connected trails and recreation space. With hundreds of acres of preserved and programmed green space, Sugar Hill is proud to offer recreation opportunities for all.
