Note From The City Manager
As we approach the end of 2022, I am more optimistic than ever about our beautiful city. I know that 2023 will be the start of many exciting years to come for Sanger. We are moving forward with no looking back.
This past year has shown us just how much we have grown as a community. Sanger is a city that reminds us of the good old days yet moves forward with a strategic and progressive vision for the future. We are quickly becoming a North Texas destination for those who want to live, work, play, and develop in the area. We have worked really hard both as a City and community to highlight all that Sanger has to offer. Since January 2022, we have issued 61 single-family housing permits, one new commercial permit, and five commercial remodel permits, plus we anticipate several significant developments that will soon be underway.
Our efforts are not going unnoticed. Much of this success is due to our marketing efforts to get the word out about our beautiful community. Since January 2022, our social engagement numbers have skyrocketed. Our City Facebook Page visits are up 221.3% vs. one year ago. Our page reach is up 84.5%, and likes are up 86%. You can gauge the interest in our City when you compare this data to our neighboring cities. For example, since January, Sanger’s Facebook likes are 1008, the City of Roanoke received 169 new likes, Celina 156, the Colony 63, and the City of Aubrey 77. People are starting to notice us, and it shows. We launched our DiscoverSanger.com website in June. In just four months, we have had 4,057 unique visitors, with an average time spent per session of three minutes! Perhaps the most surprising is the response to our magazine, the Sanger Sentinel. We are averaging a reach of more than 6,000 each month, more than 700 engagements, and link clicks approaching 1000 per issue.
Our events are gaining in popularity as well. For Freedom Fest 2022, we anticipated a crowd of approximately 2000 – 2500. Estimates from our vendors and attractions put attendance between 4500 – 5000! Our Christmas on the Square event, set for December 10th, is shaping up to be just as exciting.
We are on a roll. Our focus for 2023 will be to bring more opportunities for Civic Engagement. We are exploring ideas that will provide you with face-to-face interactions with your City leaders, such as Town Halls, State of the City events, Touch-a-Truck, National Night Out, Coffee with a Cop, and much more. Through these types of engagement, we can draw in our new residents and business owners, allowing them to experience and be a part of our City Culture.
In this season of giving thanks, we all have much to be thankful for. I am thankful for our community, our residents, and the opportunities we all share for the future.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving,
John Noblitt City Manager, Sanger
