Since the very first performance, the world has seen many versions of this beautiful timeless world famous fairy-tale classic featuring the artistry and skill of classical ballet.

Sleeping Beauty was first presented in 1890 by the Imperial Ballet at the Mariinsky Theatre, St Petersburg. It is a ballet in a prologue and three acts, and original choreographer was Marius Petipa with the music score composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The original scenario was conceived by Ivan Vsevolozhsky, and is based on Charles Perrault's La Belle au bois dormant.

The Victorian State Ballets production features the unique masterpiece musical score which makes this ballet so special, coupled together with traditional choreography in selected scenes.
