Special Investigations Unit

The Owatonna Police Department co-employs one Task Force Field Agent with the Steele County Sheriff’s Office. This agent, along with agents from other counties, specializes in gang and drug enforcement investigations throughout the five county areas served by the task force. In 2006, the South Central Gang and Drug Task Force conducted 309 investigations, resulting in 215 arrests. In addition, Task Force members outreached to more than 2300 people by providing 68 educational presentations.
