Introduction to the Sport of Fencing
Instructor: Sill Lyra Location: Meridian Community Center Ages: 16+ Min/Max: 5/10 Enjoy the unique sport of fencing. Coach Sill Lyra, an Olympic Coach at the 2004 Olympics in the Modern Pentathlon, will teach you the principles, strategies and movement of fencing with epees. We will not be using real equipment, but Italian plastic replicas. 90% of this class will be learning though competition between participants. Fencing improves hand eye coordination, concentration, physical fitness, self-esteem and self-respect. Instructor: David Wuerth Location: Meridian Community Center Ages: 16 + Min/Max: 3/8 Digital Photography 101 is intended for owners of DSLR and advanced point and shoot cameras. This class will cover shutter speed settings, lens-opening settings, ISO, shooting modes and basic camera operations with the goal of helping camera owners gain a better understanding of how to use their photography gear. Other covered material includes software, camera accessories, composition and shooting situations. Students under 16 must be accompanied by a paid adult. An additional fee of $25 for the bamboo shinai (practice sword) is due the first night of class, payable to ‘Idaho Kendo Club’.
