Municipal Court

Municipal Court is the judicial branch of city government. Municipal Court hears Class C Misdemeanor criminal cases, including traffic violations and fine only violations up to $500.00. The Court also hears violations of city ordinances, which may have a fine up to $2,000.00 for certain offenses.

What do they do?

The City Marshal’s are the police for the Lancaster Municipal Court. Marshal’s have six essential duties.

4. Marshals are Certified Court Security Specialist that provide security support for court operations. 5. They oversee the Lancaster Court Community Service program. 6. Make traffic stops inside the city limits of Lancaster. 1. To arrest defendants with active Lancaster warrants. 2. Transport defendants incarcerated at other agencies seven days a week, being held on Lancaster Class C warrants. 3. Serve summons and subpoenas issued by the Municipal Court.
