JONESBORO FORWARD
City to Update Comprehensive Plan - Public Input Critical to Goal Setting for Future
The City of Jonesboro is launching crowdsourcing efforts to help guide the upcoming revision of the city’s Comprehensive Plan. The priorities identified by the community in its initial stage will be the foundation of the Comprehensive Plan update and guide the City’s priorities going into the future. Called “Jonesboro Forward,” the updated comprehensive plan is intended to provide fresh guidance to the city on the best ways to use and develop land, improve infrastructure, and boost economic opportunities. The plan is set for completion within the 4th quarter of this year. Officials are inviting and encouraging all residents, property owners, civic groups, business owners, employees, and government workers to complete the survey. Those interested in completing the survey should visit https://publicinput.com/2021Jonesboroforward. This site will serve as the public-facing project hub for “Jonesboro Forward.” By signing up to the site, you will also receive periodic updates during the process and will have the opportunity to review draft documents and provide feedback to the steering committee.

Jule Segner Nominated for Small Town America Civic Volunteer Award (STACVA) Ms. Jule Segner of our City has been nominated by Mayor Joy B. Day for recognition for her volunteer services to the City of Jonesboro. Ms. Segner serves on the Downtown Development Authority, is Chairman of the City Promotions Committee, and is a member of the Urban Redevelopment Agency. Beyond that, Jule can be found at most city events selling ice cream or popcorn, toting book bags, selling tickets, or any other tasks needed to support the event. Jule has been an important part of our special event efforts from the very beginning. She is always busy behind the scenes contributing her time and efforts to promote our city. STACVA is a nationwide recognition and award program designed to emphasize the importance of volunteers in public service roles, and to recognize individual civic volunteers. The program is available to small communities of populations of 25,000 or less and is a part of the Main Street America Program. Winners will be announced in late 2021. You are already a winner in our minds, Jule Segner. Thanks for your service to Jonesboro!
