At the Jonesboro City Council Regular Meeting held on Monday, September 12, 2022, City Councilmembers took care of City Business in what was perhaps the longest meeting of our history. The following are notable items that were considered: 1.

Wifi & Security Installation at Lee Street Park—As part of the approved ARPA initiatives, Council approved establishing wireless internet connection access for citizens visiting Lee St. Park & surveillance. 2. Denied Quadruplex requested for 192 Cloud Street. 3. Denied a request for Multi-Family Senior Housing at 294 South Main Street. 4. Tabled a Request, at the request of the applicant, for 252 units of Multifamily Workforce Housing. 5. Approved the purchase of Flock technology to provide advanced public safety by creating a geo-fence around the City. It has been reported that this technology has helped to reduce crime by 70%. 6. Voted to hold a Special Election to fill the unexpired term of Mayor Joy Day in March of 2023. The City will still hold the general election in November 2023. 7. Presentation with regards to metered parking within specific areas of the City. (No Official Action Taken). 8. Appointed Janice Stewart and Alice Meadows-Jones to the Jonesboro Housing Authority. 9. Appointed Mayor Pro Tem Tracey Messick as the binding authority for LOST Distribution and Service Delivery Extension. Jonesboro’s current LOST distribution is 2.96%. The Local Option Sales Tax is a 1 percent sales tax activated by a local referendum and imposed on the purchase, sale, rental, storage, use or consumption of tangible personal property and related services.
