CITY ELECTION—TUESDAY, November 6: 7 am-7pm No candidates are up for election. Two questions are on the ballot for citizens to decide: “The Brunch Bill” and Homestead Exemption VOTE AT FIREHOUSE MUSEUM BUILDING—West Mill Street

A Message From the Mayor Dear Citizens, We have a very important election coming up on November 6. Although no candidates are being elected, there are two crucial questions on our ballot. The most critical one is our Homestead Exemption question. The City currently has a $60,000 Homestead Exemption. That means that our businesses bear basically all the financial responsibility for our City. If our Exemption were lowered, citizens would pay little or no city taxes. Only as property values rise would that change. Our Council is committed to keeping the millage rate low; the Homestead Exemption is a guarantee for the future financial health of our City. It is a vote of fairness and equality for businesses and homeowners. I urge you to come to the polls on November 6 and vote YES on Homestead Exemption. Over the years, we have succeeded in building the financial health of our City. I am proud to say that we have come in under budget 18 of my 19 years as Mayor. At the same time, we have managed to continue to deliver quality services to our citizens. It has been my privilege to write numerous Grants for our City, helping to fund public projects including our Streetscape projects, Sidewalks, Curb and Gutter projects, and currently our Broad Street Project. We need your help, however, on this Homestead Exemption question. Let’s work together to continue to keep Jonesboro financially sound, safe, and clean for all of us. Please call me at City Hall or email jday@jonesboroga.com if you have questions. Thanks for your consideration and Happy Fall!

FALL BURNING POLLUTES Consider your Neighbors Fall weather means falling leaves and increased yard waste. Many elderly and asthmatic patients are extremely impacted by outside burning. We respectfully ask that you NOT BURN leaves. When you do, your neighbors for blocks are affected. Pile leaves in your yard on the edge of the curb, (not in the street), and the City will pick them up. THANKS!
