LCI Supplemental Study Moves Forward

4TH OF JULY PARADE ON MAIN STREET

BLUEPRINT JONESBORO: “ Building an Active Community” The City of Jonesboro has embarked on its second LCI (Livable Cities Initiative) study with a grant from the Atlanta Regional Commission. Initiatives include a transportation component linking our downtown with Lee Street Park and the Park & Ride on Fayetteville Road as well as potential designs for modes of transportation and the possible look for the target area. Also included are preliminary plans for a municipal complex, the Jonesboro Town Center. Incorporated into the process is the appointment of an LCI Advisory Group, Stakeholder interviews, work sessions with city staff, Public Workshops for input, and a Draft Plan Open House. TSW, a consulting firm, is facilitating the six month process for the City.

In LOVING MEMORY

Clint Eastwood in Jonesboro! Clint Eastwood acts and directs in his latest feature film, “The Mule,” based on the life of 90-year-old drug courier Leo Sharp. The film marks Eastwood’s first acting job since the 2012 baseball drama “Trouble With the Curve.” The movie is based on a 2014 New York Times Magazine feature by Sam Colnick and follows Earl Stone (Eastwood), a man in his 80s, who is broke, alone and facing foreclosure of his business when he is offered a job that simply requires him to drive….easy enough. Unbeknownst to Earl, he has signed on as a drug courier for a Mexican cartel, and also has hit the radar of a hard-charging DEA agent (Bradley Cooper). “The Mule” filmed on North Avenue, at the old Hardee’s building, and at the Citgo on South McDonough Street. CLINT EASTWOOD, YOU MADE OUR DAY!
