Major Wilfred Norwood Appointed Acting Police Chief A 31-year veteran of Clayton County Police Department, Acting Chief Norwood is a native of Jonesboro and currently resides locally. He recently retired from CCPD where he has served in many different capacities including, but not limited to, Commander of Special Operations, Criminal Investigations, Agency Manager of the FBI/VICAP Program, Commander of Code Enforcement and the 911 Center, Shift Precinct Commander, Crimes Against Children Unit Commander, Cold Case Unit Commander, and Protective Services Unit. He received the Medal of Valor in 2005. Chief Norwood earned both a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a Master’s of Science in Criminal Justice Administration from Saint Leo University, Atlanta, Georgia. Chief Norwood came up through the ranks in CCPD, beginning as a patrolman in 1988. We welcome Chief Norwood’s expertise to Jonesboro and look forward to his leadership.
