In 2016, the City of Jonesboro commissioned a study through the Atlanta Regional Commission’s Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) program to examine downtown Jonesboro and create a plan that would grow the economy, leverage Lee Street Park, encourage appropriate development, make walking and biking easier, and revitalize the Main Street corridor. The plan, adopted in 2017, identified three priorities: 1-Development of a downtown core master plan, 2-a concept for a proposed multi-use trail that connects the park and ride lot on Tara Boulevard to Main Street, and 3-schematic designs for a new municipal complex. This year, the City has received more funding through the LCI program to hire consultants TSW to create and ultimately fulfill the vision of Blueprint Jonesboro. For this phase, the City is seeking input on: *Trail design and connections, *The new Municipal Complex, and *Overall downtown design and development. A public meeting was held on July 26, 2018 to gather information and feed back from our citizens and other stakeholders. Work will continue with our consultants and City Council using that information. A second public meeting will be held in October 2018.
