Recreation Jobs with the City

If you are looking for a parttime, active job with a flexible schedule, the City’s Parks and Recreation Division might have the perfect job for you.

The Recreation team includes approximately 60 part-time employees that play an important role in providing the community with quality recreational opportunities, experiences, and facilities.

Currently, the City is hiring for three recreation positions – facility attendant, recreation leader, and senior recreation leader. Hiring is done on a continuous basis, until all openings are filled.

Facility Attendants help with event setup and breakdown at the Diamond Bar Center and other City rental facilities, ensure safe and proper use of facilities, and provide assistance and information to renters and event attendees.

Recreation Leaders act as the frontline staff for a variety of recreation activities that include sports, special events, arts and crafts, and games, and ensure participants follow safety rules at all times.

Senior Recreation Leaders serves as the lead employee to provide direction to Recreation Leaders and volunteers, monitor program expenditures, help with facility reservations and permits, schedule and plan a variety of special events and programs, and assist in resolving customer service issues.

Windmill Scavenger Hunt

April 18 marks 34 years of cityhood for Diamond Bar, and the City is celebrating with a fun month-long scavenger hunt that the whole family can participate in! The hunt for “windmill decals” will take place at various city parks, trails and facilities. There is no cost to participate but registration is required in order to receive a prize for completing the scavenger hunt. Diamond Bar teens interested in being considered for the 2023 Summer Volunteen Program are reminded that applications are due no later than Friday, April 14.

Operated by the City, the Volunteen Program is an annual summer work and leadership training opportunity for Diamond Bar residents age 13 to 17 who are interested in obtaining hands-on experience working for local government in the parks and recreation field. There is a $25 application fee. To be eligible to participate in the Volunteen Program, applicants must be available to work a minimum of 10 hours (a maximum of 30 hours) per week June 5 through August 4. Successful applicants ages 14-17 will have the choice of assisting in one of a variety of City-sponsored summer programs such as pre-school, day camp, youth sports, senior programming, or Concerts in the Park. Thirteen-year-olds may only be assigned to Concerts in the Park or senior programming.

Certificates of Recognition and letters indicating total community service hours will be issued to all Volunteens at the conclusion of the program.

Kinder Skills

Kinder Skills is a fun, stimulating program for three-, four-, and five-year-olds, designed to prepare children socially and academically to succeed in kindergarten. Through this structured recreationbased program, your child will learn about sharing, following directions, and kindergarten readiness skills such as using a pencil, learning letters, counting numbers, and recognizing colors and shapes. Classes are ongoing, with every session offering a new theme and lessons.
