The Summer Youth Program kicked off at the beginning of June with great enthusiasm and excitement in the City of Clovis. Led by the dedicated team at Roy Walker, the program has been a resounding success thus far In particular, the addition of DaNeice Burris to the team has been instrumental in planning and organizing engaging activities for the youth With her expertise and passion for creating memorable experiences,

DaNeice has crafted a diverse range of activities that cater to the interests of all participants From sports tournaments and arts and crafts sessions to outdoor adventures and educational outings, the program offers a well-rounded and fun-filled summer for the children The positive feedback from both the kids and their parents showcases the success of the program.

Hillcrest Park Zoo Updates

The Kangaroos have been moved to the enclosure behind the bears The Mining Sluice opened on June 9, 2023.
Wallabies arrived on May 31, 2023 from Dragonstone Ranch. They are currently in quarantine
The Zoo passed it's 3 year USDA inspection This was the first year the permits went from 1 to 3 year and inspection was rigorous The zoo passed with zero violations Both Tamanduas moved out of their winter quarters into the bird area.
The racoon habitat is complete.
WELCOME, STEPHANIE CHAVEZ!
Stephanie has joined the Hillcrest Park Zoo as Zoo Curator from the San Antonio Zoo where she was a zookeeper Chavez was on the board of directors for the Chihuahuan Desert Education Committee for three years and is still currently on the board for the Frontera Land Alliance.

Stephanie choose to move to Clovis because she has family here and she saw a lot of potential in the zoo "I am excited for the zoo ' s future and what will become of it," Chavez said
She be working on bringing more animals in, updating current enclosures, and creating protocols for the zoo If she had a choice to have any animal in the world join the zoo next, it would be flamingos and Black Palm Cockatoos Birds are her favorite!
