Expansion of the nation’s largest direct-use geothermal energy district. Recent additions to the system include Boise State University, Jack’s Urban Meeting Place (JUMP), the Central Addition and Simplot headquarters. Conversion of 400 streetlights per year to energy-efficient LEDs. Currently, almost 40 percent of City-owned streetlights are LEDs. Energy efficiency improvements at the wastewater treatment facilities. In 2015, the Lander Street facility reduced energy use by 14 percent. Construction of new LEED certified buildings, including the Library! at Ustick, Fire Station #8 and #15, Boise WaterShed Environmental Education Center, the office and maintenance facility at the Twenty Mile South Biosolids Application Site (the first commercial net-zero building in Idaho, under construction) and the Library! at Bown Crossing (under construction). Completion of energy audits of primary municipal buildings that comprise 90 percent of building electricity use.
