Minimize the impact of harmful wastes by promoting our award-winning household hazardous waste program and using alternative fuels to power trucks.
SUPPORT COMMUNITY ENVIRONMENTAL GOALS Continue the award-winning household hazardous waste program, which benefits air quality, water quality, and landfill performance Provide support for brownfields projects in partnership with other City departments and the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality Continue pharmaceutical collection program in partnership with the Ada County Sheriff’s Office and Cities of Boise, Meridian, Eagle, and Garden City
Increase recovery of all waste materials and promote the highest value use of the recovered materials.

MATERIALS MANAGEMENT GOALS
PLANNED 2016
Managing solid waste is really about managing materials and reducing disposal of trash into landfills. In 2009, Boise launched Curb It, a residential trash and recycling program that provides wheeled carts for commingled recycling to almost 73,000 Boise households.
