An Egg-Cellent Adventure is waiting for you throughout Blue Springs! Participants will arrive at Rotary Park to check in and receive their first clue to find their eggs. The eggs will be empty, but they must collect two eggs from each park at different stations and arrive back to Rotary Park to receive their Easter Basket! Registration deadline is March 29.

Who doesn’t love a fun Easter Egg Hunt, especially when it’s FREE? Come join us at Young Park for our annual Easter Egg Hunt, perfect for families and kids of all ages!
Enjoy pictures with the Easter Bunny and visit with local vendors.

Friday, April 7 Hidden Valley Sports Complex 7-10 p.m. 21+ $120 per VIP area up to 10 people
Remember what it was like to hunt for Easter eggs as a kid? Now it’s time for the adults to go on the hunt at Hidden Valley Sports Complex. Gather family and friends for an evening of camaraderie, excitement and fun. Flashlights are encouraged! Bring your own adult beverages, flashlights, Easter bags/baskets and lawn chairs. There also will be chances to win raffle prizes from local businesses. Registration opens February 13.

Saturday, May 9 Keystone park 9 a.m. Ages 2-7 $10
Little ones, start your engines! Blue Springs Parks & Recreation is turning Keystone Park into a racetrack on Saturday, May 6 to host a power wheel race. Racers will navigate a course through the park. Bring your own personal Power Wheels and compete in a friendly race! Registration deadline is April 22.

WILD MILES

Saturday, June 10 Grounds Park 9-11 a.m. Ages 5-13 $35 First 50 Registrants $40 After 50 Why run a boring race when you could run Wild Miles?
Kids ages 5-13 complete an obstacle course full of climbing, crawling, swinging and jumping. The first 50 registrants receive a free t-shirt and are entered into a drawing to win cool prizes! Must meet 50 registrations by May 19.

Saturday, May 13 Rotary Park 8:30 a.m. Ages 5-14 Free
Bring your rod, reel, tackle box and bait and come fish at Rotary Lake at the annual Kids’ Fishing Derby for your chance to win prizes. Each participant will receive a hot dog, chips and drink. Prizes provided by the Sunset Optimist Club of Blue Springs.

GET OUTDOORS!
Saturday, April 22 Kemper Outdoor Education Center 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Ages 5-15 Free
Join Blue Springs Parks & Recreation, Burr Oak Woods Nature Center with the Missouri Department of Conservation and Jackson County Parks + Rec for an outdoor family event like no other.
We will have outdoor education, fishing, yoga, archery, kayaking and more.

NAILED IT
Our holiday bakeoff competition continues in the New Year! Make goodies for Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day and Easter.
We will announce the baked item to be made on the first of each month. Photos of the completed item will be turned into Kelly Finke at kfinke@bluespringsgov.com no later than 8 a.m. on the third Friday of each month.
Photos will be posted on our Facebook page to be voted on by receiving “Likes”. The compositions with the most likes will be awarded a prize.

PUZZLE PALOOZA


January 19 Vesper Hall 6-8:30 p.m. All Ages $20/Four-person team
Do you pine to place pieces of a puzzle in their permanent place? Then come placate your passion at Puzzle Palooza.
Teams of four will receive the exact same 500-piece puzzle. Teams will have two hours to complete the puzzle. The first team to finish wins! BUT, that’s not all, teams have the choice to purchase a challenge to instill on other teams. This may slow the other team down giving the team who purchased the challenge an upper hand.
Registration deadline is January 12.
PAINT BY NUMBER
Last Wednesday of each month, beginning January 25 Vesper Hall 5-6:30 p.m. All Ages $15
If you ever wanted to learn to paint, but wanted to find an easy method, Blue Springs Parks & Recreation has just the class. Come learn to Paint By Number with our monthly class, beginning in January.
As you paint the canvas following the shapes marked with a number that corresponds to a color, the picture will emerge as you finish the project.
The registration deadline is two weeks prior to each class.


March 13-17 Fieldhouse 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m. $140/week If you plan on taking a staycation over spring break this year and need a place to keep the young ones occupied, look no further than Spring Break Camp at the Blue Springs Fieldhouse.
Enjoy fun activities, arts and crafts, games, guest speakers, and more! The registration deadline is March 3.

SUMMER CAMP
May 30 - August 18 7 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Ages 5-12 $140/week The Blue Springs Summer Day Camp mission is to help each camper discover new skills while building a community that values each child.
Activities include healthy risk-taking and leadership challenges to help each person grow as an individual while aiming to build confidence and self-respect. Friendships at camp are based on honesty and a deep sense of caring.
We strive to provide individual attention and unique experiences that campers will remember for the rest of their lives. Campers can enjoy field trips, guest speakers, pool days, structured gym games, crafts and much more! Are you 13 years old or older? Want to become a Counselor in Training? Learn to save a life with the help of Central Jackson County Fire Protection District.
Participants will receive their CPR card upon completion of the class. Classes are on the second Tuesday of each month.

MOMMY AND ME
A workout group for soon-to-be moms and current moms! Children six weeks to five-years-old are welcome to attend with their parent.
Children can be used as resistance for exercises or stay in their carrier/stroller. Child watch will be available and is included with admission to the class.

Wednesdays, Jan. 11-Feb. 15 Fieldhouse Aerobics Room Ages 13+ 5:15-6:15 p.m. $30 Members $36 Non-Members
This six-week program addresses the importance of deep stretching to help people of all levels and ages move and feel better with less pain. The focus of this class is on slowing down, connecting with the breath and experiencing deep release in the joints, ligaments and connective tissues using a variety of gentle yoga-inspired poses featuring 2-5 minute holds per pose.
This is a great class for athletes of all levels/sports, as well as “desk job types” with little to no exercise experience who want to recover from injuries, reduce joint/back pain, muscle tightness and stress, as well as improve flexibility, mobility, circulation, performance and mental focus/well-being.


GET GOLF READY

Start the golf season strong by getting in the swing of things and enrolling in “Get Golf Ready!”
This four-week class is designed to increase driving distance, improve balance and increase endurance to help golfers play better. Improve your strength and mobility to play your best golf this summer.
Tuesdays, January 10-31 Thursdays, January 12-February 2 Fieldhouse Turf Ages 15-18 3:30-4:30 p.m. Members: 1x/week $40; 2x/week $80 Non-Members: 1x/week $48; 2x/week $96 Led by trainer Jamal Mabry, high school athletes can improve and master their athletic development skills anytime of the year. For in-season or offseason athletes, skills and exercises taught will improve sprinting, foot-strike mechanics and injury prevention. Improve your body’s endurance and durability to perform through all seasons of play.

The focus of this program is to teach the fundamentals of athletic development. Participants will learn the techniques of sprinting, deceleration, change of direction and agility. The goal of each session is to equip the athletes with all the skills necessary to play any sport they choose with a reduced risk of injury, all in a positive and fun environment!
TODDLER TIME
First and Third Friday of the month Fieldhouse: Court 1 Ages 6 months-5 years old 10 a.m.-noon Members: $2; Free if child has membership Non-Members: $3 per child per visit
Parents and caregivers can bring their children to play inside on cars, scooters, slides, playhouse, mats and more! We set up toys, and you and your child will have the fun! Parent/caregiver must stay with child. Toddler Time is open to the public, so bring a friend and share this fun time of play and socialization!
