Vesper Hall is a nationally accredited Community Center that offers a variety of activities for individuals ages 50 and older who like to stay social, healthy and active.

WEEKLY NUTRITIONAL LUNCH

Served Monday-Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A $3.50 donation is suggested for ages 60 and older and for those who are disabled. A fee of $5.75 is required for age 59 and younger.

Reservations must be made at least one day prior to guarantee a meal. Cancellations must be made prior to day of reservation.

HOME-DELIVERED MEALS

Available for homebound individuals in Blue Springs and Lake Tapawingo who are 60 years and older or disabled persons age 18-59. Meals are delivered Monday-Friday, and a $3.50 donation is suggested. Contact Vesper Hall to receive more information.

Meal programs are co-sponsored by Mid-America Regional Council. Federal funds assist in the cost of meal planning. preparation and delivery.

TRANSPORTATION SERVICES

The City of Blue Springs offers transportation services for residents 60 years of age and older and adults with disabilities ages 18-59. The City contracts with OATS Transportation Services for medical and/or shopping trips within Blue Springs. Door-to-door pick up to grocery stores, shops and appointments within Blue Springs city limits: Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday - $3 - one-way trips, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Call 816-380-7433 to schedule. Door-to-door pick up and return to Vesper Hall: Monday through Friday - FREE with activity registration 8-9:30 a.m. pick up and noon-1:30 p.m. drop off. Call 816-228-0181 to schedule.

Dr. Daniel Hanon will be in first Friday of every month to help screen for various foot disorders associated with diabetes, Hammer Toe, toenail care and neuropathy.

CAREGIVER SUPPORT GROUP

Terrel leads this group, and she is a phenomenal resource to solving varying needs of family caregivers.

STROKE, GLUCOSE & BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENING

First Thursday of the month 11 a.m.-Noon

Two nurses come to Vesper Hall once a month. One is a stroke specialist, and the other does screening for blood pressure and glucose.

YOGA

Tuesday/Thursday 1-2 p.m. $38 for two classes per week for six weeks $20 for one class per week for six weeks $5 drop-in fee

Certified instructor will customize the class to each individual. New students (with fitness experience) welcome! Students will do various floor and standing poses. You must preregister for the six-week session.

FALUN DAFA

Tuesdays/ Thursdays 10:15 - 11:15 a.m. Drop In/ Preregistration not required

Join us for Falun Dafa, a self-cultivation practice of the Buddha School, that teaches five slow and gentle exercises, including sitting mediation.

This video-instructed class is excellent for beginners and those who want to be seated as they exercise.

ARTHRITIS EXERCISE

Tuesday/Thursday 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. $2/Class, Drop In

This program uses gentle activities to help increase joint flexibility and range-of-motion. All exercises can be modified to meet your specific needs.

This is a great class for beginners or those who have not exercised for some time. Class is led by a trained instructor.
