NAMED after Sir Philip Fysh, a Tasmanian politician who assisted in bringing about Australia’s Federation, Fyshwick has been a suburb in Canberra since the ‘20s. Mike’s Christmas store gets a make-over

MONARO Models and Hobbies supplies a face-to-face expert service on model aircrafts, radio-controlled cars, boats, planes, helicopters and drones. Owner Terry Griffiths has been an aeromodelist since 1962 and invites customers to come and talk to someone who has experiences with the products. “We do anything for the hobbyist who actually wants to do something with their hands and not sit at a computer,” he says. “We stock all the leading brands of drones from photography through to racing. “We’re open six days, we have easy accessible parking and bright, new premises, so come on down.”

HANG Ups Framing and Christmas Emporium has undergone a transformation and moved the Christmas store into its own dedicated space. Owner Mike Welch says they’ve taken over the downstairs area, so now two steps down from Hang Ups is a unique boutique Christmas shop. “We are now able to display product in a more traditional manner,” he says. “After attending trade shows in America, Germany and England we have been able to source more unique product. “So now you can buy collectable Christmas decorations, German windmills, smokers and nutcrackers, as well as items for the table.” Over the next few months the Christmas Emporium will be getting decorations from
