Taking a big shine to cars DETAILING is more than just a job to the team at Diamond Detail, says owner and detailer Michael “Choca” Taylor. “We enjoy what we do,” he says. “I’ve always had a passion for cars, and we all put a lot of heart into what we do here. “It’s great to be able to work on a 1:23 pm variety of nice cars.” Based in Dundas Court, Michael says Diamond Detail has been trading since December. “There are a lot of caryards nearby, so we find the location really suits us,” he says. Diamond Detail offers different levels
of detailing, from Minor to Diamond, which includes wash, vacuum, windows, tyre shine, shampoo seats and carpets, engine bay, wheel arches, door jams, three-stage buffing process, fall-out removal, glass polish, polish and paint sealant. Hi-fi consultant Allan McFarlane… “There’s a huge amount of expertise here,” says owner Fay Cull.
DURATONE Hi-Fi has been in the same spot in Phillip since 1968, says owner Fay Cull. “We’re a group of hi-fi enthusiasts, and our staff is a mix of people who have retired from their main job and come to work here because they know us, have a passion for hi-fi and were Duratone customers over the years,” she says. “We also have some part-time uni students who are across the newer equipment. “This means that everyone who works here has a long-term interest in music and equipment, and has this as a hobby. There’s a huge amount of expertise here.” Fay says the industry has changed, with less specialist stores around now. “People go online now and it’s a
different market, but we offer a strong service angle and advice, as well as help with installation,” she says. “We like customers to call and make an appointment, so that we can ensure they will be able to speak to the right person.” Duratone also has a vast collection of vinyl LPs, Fay says. “We have literally thousands of records for sale that we’ve obtained from people who had huge collections in pristine condition, and then needed to downsize as they have become older,” Fay says.
