ROBERT STEELE DIRECTOR - SAMSARA

As the cooler winter weather approaches, home design trends are turning towards warm and soothing decor. “People tend to stay inside at home a little bit more during the cooler months,” Samsara Furniture and Homewares owner/ designer Robert Steele said. “Winter is when we spend less home time outdoors and turn our interiors into cosy and warm atmospheres.” Soft textiles, organic pieces, textured natural products and decorative objects are the latest trends. Rugs and cushions, woven and tufted, are the latest home accessories along with natural furnishings. “Organic pieces made from wood and wicker are very popular right now and bring that warmth back into the house,” Robert said. “Feather-feel couches are also in demand as more people stay indoors during the winter when the sun goes down early.” Samsara has been one of the leading homewares and furniture stores in Cairns for 17 years and is renowned for offering unique, handmade pieces from around the world. “We travel all over to uncover the best, most interesting and exciting homewares to bring to our showroom,” Robert said. “Much of our stock is completely unique and all of our pieces are selected because of their intrinsic beauty and inherent quality.” Samsara is currently having an end-of-the-financial year sale before bringing in a huge range of new items. “We have five new containers coming in so we’re making room for all the new and exciting products,” Robert said. “We have some absolutely fantastic bargains at the moment and some beautiful pieces coming in soon.”
