Market Street, has been a place that Lichfeldians have headed to for a spot of shopping for hundreds of years. It has only been known as Market Street since the middle of the 18th century. In the 14th and 15th centuries it was known as Robe Street and Saddler Street, and today you can still buy clothing, leather goods and much more on this bustling thoroughfare.

Thank you to local history group ‘You’re probably from Lichfield, Staffs if’ for these fantastic pictures of Market Street over the past century.
