Below is an outline of the AS Film Studies course: Autumn Term You start the course with a short practical production project, followed by a look at the MICRO elements of film. This provides you with the critical skills to start the FM1 Unit: Exploring Film Form. In the Autumn term you produce an extended 1,500 word essay that investigates the use of one or more MICRO features in a film extract of your choice. You will also produce a Creative Project. In total the FM1: Exploring Film Form unit is worth 40% of your total AS Film Studies grade. FM1 is a coursework unit. Deadlines: Draft MICRO essay: Friday 14th October 2011 (1pm) Final MICRO essay: Wednesday 2nd November 2011 (5pm) Written Proposal for Creative Project: Friday 11th November 2011 (1pm) Finished Creative Project: Wednesday 14th December 2011 (5pm)
