City & State’s Diversity Summit was an all-day event featuring several panel discussions as well as keynote speeches by state Chief Diversity Officer Julissa Gutierrez and Empire State Development President and CEO Hope Knight. Held at Hebrew Union College in Manhattan, panelists talked about the future of minorityand women-owned businesses in New York. With all the struggles that many businesses faced during the COVID-19 pandemic, New York City and state officials talked about leveling the playing field for contracting opportunities. Also discussed was the growth of public-private partnerships and making sure that MWBEs could also qualify for those major contracts. Plus, inclusive hiring practices remained an important topic this year.
