Carpentry Winter & Spring Break Camp

Lunch Bunch Camp

Join our Carpentry Camps and enjoy the break. Camps have individualized instruction and include students of various levels of experience and ability. Cost of materials included, large projects may have additional fees.

Let us create a full day camp for you! If your child is enrolled in a morning camp at the Orinda Community Center and an afternoon camp at the Orinda Community Center, Orinda City staff will escort your child to Room 8 where city staff will supervise a lunch period, play fun games and create exciting projects with them. At the conclusion of each lunch bunch, Orinda city staff will escort your child to their afternoon camp or supervise them until a parent/guardian picks them up. Please provide a lunch for your child. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory Holiday Theater Camp Ages 5–10Y

Kids ’N Dance

Children will work on an abbreviated version of the production to perform on stage. Children will learn dances, projection techniques, stage directions, performance skills, and will perform on stage! Parents support our productions by donating a required 4–6 hours of time (for a $65 fee you may opt out of doing the work and we will hire someone to take your place). Most costumes are supplied, but parents are required to provide the basics. No refund once program begins. Show times may change. 12:00–1:00 pm lunch break. $25 materials fee due to instructor on the first day of camp. Show 1/5 at 3:00 pm. Location: Library, Garden Room Barcode Dates

Students learn new skills, use a variety of media, and extend their understanding of art concepts. A different theme each week. Includes drawing, painting, and creating 3-dimensional art. Daily projects incorporate a variety of skills and use media such as graphite and colored pencils, watercolor and tempura paints, pastels, paper mache, yarn, and more. Bring a daily snack. $25 materials fee due to instructor on first day of camp.

Village Center for the Arts

Children are guided through the process of building their own comic book from start to finish! From character development to world-building, students’ imaginations come to life! Artists will design their own characters, create their own original story, and learn how to utilize comic page layouts. Instructors will teach basic drawing techniques such as perspective, 3-dimensional shape, sketching, and inking, and provide exercises that help them create emotion in their characters and story. $20 materials fee due to instructor on the first day of camp. Crazy Chemistry Spring Break Camp Ages 6–12Y

Mad Science

Shake up a flask of fun in the lab as a junior chemist! These five half days of chemistry are packed solid with cool reactions. We’ll explore and create exciting chemical reactions, make colorful concoctions and bubbling brews. Amaze yourself with magical temperature changing baggie science or growing ghost crystals. Study the chemistry involved in not-so-simple things like chalk and soap, and even experiment with the chemistry used by artists, spies and detectives! Chemists bring home a project each day. Hop on board the chemistry express this summer for a high-speed science experience! Camp-Day Themes include: Scene of the Crime, Crazy Chemistry, Radical Reactions, Chemical Counting, Chem Finale. $35 materials fee due to instructor on first day of camp.
