Sports Tennis Ages 18Y and up John Fogli, USPTA Professional Alan Weissbaum, Ronald Noon, USPTA Professional Join one of the tennis classes at the scenic Orinda Community Center tennis courts. Small classes. Class times may change due to player levels. Tennis Levels: Beginner (C)—Designed for those with little or no tennis background. Course introduces fundamental strokes (forehand, backhand, serve, and net play); rules, scoring, and court play etiquette. Advanced Beginner (CB)—Understands grips, ground strokes and can begin to control the serve. Emphasis on technique, doubles strategy, and movement on the court. Intermediate (B)—Players have a basic understanding of the game, can sustain a rally, and has a serve that exhibits some control, but is in need of a second serve. The USTA will rate you under 4.0 but above 3.0. Advanced (A)—Good consistency, hits with depth and control, serve well (including a good spin second serve), good overhead shots, and feels comfortable at the net.
