s we celebrate the New Year, we also welcome 2017 as the China-Australia Year of Tourism. Both countries will spend the year promoting travel between the two continents. International tourists are encouraged to explore what each remarkable country has to offer. In this issue of Higher View we only skim the surface, visiting iconic locations in both the East and Down Under. Take some time out in Shanghai to enjoy Yu Gardens (pages 72-78), located on the Bund; revel in Hainan Island’s tropical weather, opulent resorts and white-sand beaches (pages 108-112); or get a taste of Beijing’s very diverse food scene (pages 90-98). n 60 years, China Eastern Airlines has grown from a small aviation company, with just seven vessels making up its first fleet, to one of the most recognisable airlines in the world. We are expecting for over 100 million passengers in 2016 transported by over 570 airplanes to 1,052 domestic and international destinations. With our continually expanding network, we’re thrilled to launch our direct Shanghai to Brisbane flights, commencing December 16. The new route will be available to travellers on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. China Eastern Airlines has also welcomed new direct flight paths from Sydney to Hangzhou and Kunming in November. We would like to thank each of our valued passengers for their continuous support in 2016 and wish you all a happy New Year. May 2017 bring you much joy, good fortune and great success. We hope you continue to enjoy flying with China Eastern Airlines!
