CHER PRUYS

b.Regina, Canada

Lives in Devlin, Canada

“To take my inner visions with my hands and create a work of art for you, the viewer... That is the ultimate in selfexpression.

I look for beauty in everyday objects that most people take for granted or just don’t truly see them as they are. The seemingly boring and mundane subjects can truly be like magnets if portrayed in the right light.”

Cher Pruys has called various places home throughout her life, including Saskatoon, Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa, and Fort Frances. Currently residing in Devlin, situated on the banks of the Rainy River, Cher shares her home with her husband Mark, along with their four dogs and two cats.

Cher’s passion for art ignited at a young age, as she was rarely seen without a drawing tool in hand by the age of three. Over the years, she explored various mediums such as pencil, charcoal, and ink. However, it was at the age of 35 when she discovered her true calling with a paintbrush in hand. Initially starting with oil paints, Cher eventually found her preferred mediums in acrylic, watercolor, and gouache.

Despite being self-taught, Cher’s dedication and talent have garnered recognition worldwide. Her artwork has been selected for 280 international exhibits through a juried process, and she has also participated in numerous non-juried shows. She has amassed an impressive collection of 336 awards for her work in international juried exhibits.

Cher’s artistic achievements extend beyond exhibits and awards. Her captivating artwork has been featured on the covers of three books and 32 magazines, including notable publications like The Best Of Acrylic Fall 2021, Arabella Magazine (May 2022), and Hyperrealism Magazine (#20) with her piece titled “Girls Girls Girls”. Her talent has been showcased in over 200 international publications.

The impact of Cher’s art reaches far and wide, as her works have found permanent homes in private and public collections worldwide. Her passion, dedication, and exceptional talent continue to shine through her art, leaving a lasting impression on art enthusiasts and collectors alike.
