the rocker THURSDAY, JUNE 12, 7:30PM Are you ready to rock, Las Vegas? I said...ARE YOU READY TO ROCK??? It's CineVegas' 10th Anniversary and we are cranking it up with 10 days of films and parties that will blow your mind. It all starts with the world premiere of THE ROCKER, a hilarious comedy from the director of The Full Monty that features some of the funniest comedians working today. “The Rocker” is Robert “Fish” Fishman, the drummer for an eighties hair band. He's living the rock n' roll dream…until he is kicked out of the group. Twenty years later, the desperate rocker joins his nephew's band, A.D.D., finally reclaiming the Rock-God throne he's always thought he deserved – while taking his much younger bandmates along for the ride of their lives. In this rockin' mix of physical comedy, heart and garage band/power rock/heavy metal music,The Office's Rainn Wilson trades his paper company desk job for rock 'n roll fame, taking on the role of a big, sweaty, out-of-control, and sometimes naked drummer who gets a second chance at rock superstardom. He's joined by Christina Applegate (Anchorman: The Legend of Ron

Burgundy), Jeff Garlin (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Joshua Gad (21), pop star Teddy Geiger, and Emma Stone (Superbad). CineVegas is thrilled to open the Festival with such a raucously funny film that sets the perfect tone for the inspired madness that will follow.

Director: Peter Cattaneo. Writers: Maya Forbes,Wally Wolodarsky. Producers: Shawn Levy,Tom McNulty. Cinematographer: Anthony B. Richmond. Editor: George Folsey Jr. Music: Patrick Houlihan. Cast: Rainn Wilson, Christina Applegate,Teddy Geiger, Joshua Gad, Emma Stone, Jason Sudeikis, Jane Lynch.

get smart sunday, june 15, 1:45pm planet hollywood resort & casino As part of its tenth anniversary celebration, the CineVegas Film Festival will host a special charity screening of Warner Bros. Pictures’ GET SMART on Sunday, June 15, at Planet Hollywood Resort Casino, with proceeds benefiting The Rock Foundation and its special program, Project Knapsack. Founded by GET SMART star Dwayne Johnson, who will attend the event,The Rock Foundation provides programs designed to enrich and empower the lives and self-esteem of children worldwide. The organization’s educational initiative is exhibited by its support of Project Knapsack, a pen-pal and school-supply program between American students and their peers in developing countries. The program strives to enhance the current level of primary education and reduce barriers affecting student learning. Prior

to the screening, Johnson will be presented with a Brenden Celebrity Star by Johnny Brenden, president and CEO of Brenden Theatres, at the Brenden Theatres at the Palms Casino Resort. "This special screening of Get Smart is a win-win for everybody involved. Not only do we get to offer the city of Las Vegas a sneak peek of one of the summer's most highly anticipated films, but it will also benefit The Rock Foundation, with monies raised going directly back to establishing Project Knapsack at a local Las Vegas school," said CineVegas Artistic Director Trevor Groth. "This event only further cements CineVegas' commitment to giving back to the local community, which has given so much support to the Festival over the past ten years." In the all-new action comedy Get Smart, directed by Peter Segal, Maxwell Smart (Steve Carell) is on a mission to thwart the latest plot for world domination by the evil crime syndicate known as KAOS. When the headquarters of U.S. spy agency CONTROL is attacked and the identities of its agents compromised, the Chief (Alan Arkin) has no choice but to promote his ever-eager analyst Maxwell Smart, who has

always dreamt of working in the field alongside stalwart superstar Agent 23 (Johnson). Smart is partnered instead with the only other agent whose identity has not been compromised: the lovely-but-lethal veteran,Agent 99 (Anne Hathaway). As Smart and 99 get closer to unraveling KAOS' master plan – and each other – they discover that key KAOS operative Siegfried (Terence Stamp) and his sidekick Shtarker (Ken Davitian) are scheming to cash in with their network of terror. Given little field experience and even less time, Smart – armed with nothing but a few spy-tech gadgets and his unbridled enthusiasm – must defeat KAOS if he is to save the day. ticket prices range from $25-$45. to purchase your tickets call 1-888-8vegas8.

closing night film

the great buck howard saturday, June 21, 7:00pm Magicians have helped make Las Vegas the entertainment capital of the world, which is why THE GREAT BUCK HOWARD is the perfect closing night film. Inspired by The Amazing Kreskin, it is a humorous and nostalgic trip to when bigger wasn't better, when people weren't so jaded and still believed in magic. Troy Gable (Colin Hanks) is a law school dropout who answers an ad for a “personal assistant to a celebrity performer,” hoping it will provide his entré to the entertainment industry despite his father's (Tom Hanks, in an inspired bit of casting) disapproval. That per-

former is Buck Howard (John Malkovich), a "mentalist" infamous for 61 appearances on The Tonight Show – who is staging a comeback with the help of his fiery publicist (Emily Blunt). Writer/director Sean McGinly does the nearimpossible by encapsulating an entire era of entertainment into one outrageous character. Malkovich plays Buck to perfection, conjuring a flamboyant mix of ego, sweetness, and delusion while Hanks does a remarkable job of deflecting his diva-esque tantrums.Yet, the true magic of The Great Buck Howard is how it makes us feel, the power of staying true to ourselves. Las

Vegas was built on dreams of many Buck Howards.THE GREAT BUCK HOWARD is a funny and moving love letter to them all. Writer/Director: Sean McGinly. Executive Producers: Steven Shareshian, Marvin Acuna. Producers:Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman. Cinematographer:Tak Fujimoto. Editor: Myron Kerstein. Music: Blake Neely. Cast: John Malkovich, Colin Hanks, Emily Blunt, Steve Zahn,Tom Hanks, Griffin Dunne.

planting the seeds TAKASHI MURAKAMI MONDAY, JUNE 16, 9:00PM AT THE WYNN LAS VEGAS LAKE OF DREAMS

“I created my first animated work Planting the Seeds for my retrospective at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, where it premiered last Fall. Although it is a short piece, it is the product of 3 years of work in my animation studio in Tokyo. When I think of what I want to do in the future, the answer is always animation. To me, it represents the future of artistic creativity.” A longtime admirer of animator Hayao Miyazaki (Princess Mononoke, 1997 and Spirited Away, 2001), Murakami will also present part one of his first self-initiated, animated short, kaikai & kiki (2007). Based on the two characters for which he named his international company, Kaikai and Kiki, the kawaii toddlers, one good and one bad, find themselves in a metaphysical dilemma as they try to make sense of the rules that govern their strange, four-dimensional world.

Takashi Murakami was born in Tokyo, Japan, in 1962 and currently lives and works in both Tokyo and Long Island City, New York. His work has been featured in major solo museum exhibitions from Tokyo to Italy to Paris to his recent life retrospective in the U.S. CineVegas will present his short artwork at the Wynn Las Vegas Lake of Dream under the stars.

anjelica huston

There are plenty of actors who have the movie business in their blood.Anjelica Huston has it in her DNA. She is one of the most renowned actors of her time, just as her father John was one of the most renowned directors of his time, just like his father Walter was one of the most renowned actors of his time. There is perhaps no family whose place in film history is as rightfully secure, nor whose destinies have been so beautifully intertwined, as the Hustons. live conversation with: SATURDAY, JUNE 21, 5:00PM

rosario dawson

Rosario Dawson is everywoman, at least every NYC woman. In the 13 years since her debut in Kids, she has inhabited too many inner and outer borough girls to count. She’s also kicked ass in Sin City and Death Proof and believe it or not, she’s just getting started.

Pulling from two new documentaries featuring art scenes that grew outside the system, we have assembled a group of incredible artists whose work spans the last half-century. From the '50s and '60s rebels of THE COOL SCHOOL to the '90s punks of BEAUTIFUL LOSERS, the artists will have plenty to say about ideals and inspiration, success and happiness, the establishment and doing it yourself. All ignored preconceived limits of art and worked in various mediums – photography, painting, sculpture, writing, film, and more. And all will surely prove that every piece of art exists for one reason – an artist wanted to create it. live conversation with: Billy Al Bengston, Dave Hickey, Dennis Hopper, Jo Jackson, Geoff McFetridge, Ed Moses, Stephen Powers
