If one wishes to
celebrate learning than look no further than perhaps the best comic novel ever written. The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman, written by LAURENCE STERNE in the 18th century. Tristram Shandy had such success because it was a sensational book: not just a good yarn, but wildly experimental. It messed about with the novelistic conventions of the time, such as linearity and a structured plot, and took innovations like the self-conscious narrator to an extreme. Our celebration of learning is designed just for that.

PROJECT SUPERHERO
is a 2014 children’s fiction/nonfiction hybrid book written by neuroscientist E. Paul Zehr and illustrated by Kris Pearn. The book, a recipient of the silver medal in juvenile fiction from the Independent Publisher Book Awards, chronicles the life of Jessie, a 13-year-old girl with a penchant for superhero comic books and journaling, who is assigned a year-long school project in her Socials class called the Superhero Slam. Our G6 exhibition and G11 personal projects are sometimes more challenging than that, because it is designed in a way, to allow students to provide solutions to what the future me and you will require to function as human beings in the decades to come.

As Jacob Kurtzberg or popularly known as Jack Kirby, the creator of the X Men eloquently puts it “You school them. You develop their skills...... We train in our way, they'll help us – and not only help us, but achieve a measure of growth in their own sense”. The education resort at Port Dickson which is the first of its kind in Malaysia is our X-Mansion. This is where our students go to chill and rewind their batteries, as well as to do some soul searching on the true meaning and realities of outdoor learning.

MUSIC
Rock me Amadeus was a 1985 hit for Falco. Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart or popularly known as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is a testament to mankind that you don’t have to be able to be built like a hulk to be a superhero. Along with Bach and Beethoven, Mozart is regarded as one of the greatest composers who have ever lived. He was not always a success having failed to establish himself as a composer in Paris, the Austrian kept on trying. It’s his persistence and not his perfection that the Fairview students embrace in school. You don’t have to be perfect to be great, because true greatness is music to the ears of those of us who never give up.
