Wildlife corridor acquires more land Western Wildlife Corridor purchased a 13-acre parcel at 5700 Hillside Ave. in Delhi Township on March 26, adding new greenspace in Hamilton County and a new addition to the existing Bender Mountain Nature Preserve. This property was purchased from John and Kim Kraft who agreed to divide their land so that Western Wildlife Corridor could buy the pristine wooded portion of the property.] Funding for the purchase included a $49,000 grant from the Clean Ohio Conservation Program and $10,000 from the Hamilton County Park District. The members of Western Wildlife Corridor donated the remaining funds for the
property purchase. The Hamilton County Park District will retain a conservation easement on this property. This property will offer opportunities to visitors of the preserve including access to vast panoramic views of the Ohio River and beautiful mature forests. It will also provide an area for remote hiking. The conservation group’s eventual plan is to develop this property into an active nature preserve with trails for hiking on the heavily forested hillside tract as well as a site for educational programs for the neighboring communities.
“We are pleased to join forces with Delhi Township, the State of Ohio and the Hamilton County Park District to ensure the preservation of this wonderful nature preserve.” said Tim Sisson, president of the Western Wildlife Corridor Board of Trustees. Western Wildlife Corridor has partnered with the Hamilton County Park District and Delhi Township Parks and Recreation since 2003 to preserve the habitat of the Bender Mountain area. Be Proud of Your Image
WITNESS! Let’s think about the word, not necessarily in a religious sense, but from an earthly view of human reaction. All of us witness things every day. We see varying circumstances, situations and attitudes all around us, both good and bad. As we witness these things in other people, wouldn’t it be a good idea for us to ponder what other people see or witness in us? Each of us individually sets a standard of behavior, thought and expression linked to ourselves. In doing this, we naturally provide a scene or knowledge for others to witness. The things we do and the things we say cause people to talk favorably or gossip about us unfavorably. We create our own image, good or bad. We control the destinies of our image in the minds and thoughts of others. When we can be rightfully proud of what others witness in us, we gain an inner gladness that automatically portrays a better, more likeable image... Marilyn Holt
