Two Seton seniors receive K of C scholarships Girls rewarded for academic record
Seton High School seniors Katie Feeney and Paige Moorhead each received a $1,000 scholarship for the 2012-2013 school year from the Ohio Knights of Columbus Charity Foundation Inc. The scholarship was for students from grades 9-12 who were attending a Catholic high school in Ohio, who needed financial assistance and have a good academic record. “When I first found out I had won, I was really excited,” said Feeney. “My grandfather has been heavily involved in the K of C for years. He's a fourth degree member and absolutely loves the service. I was so happy when I received the award because I know I'd be making him proud.”
In addition to maintaining excellent grades, the girls are actively involved in their school and community. Feeney is a member of Eco Club, Art Club, Spanish Club, Current Events Club and Science Olympiad. She is on the cross country team, in Seton’s musicals, on the Academic Team and a Student Ambassador. She volunteers for the Downs Syndrome Association, Habitat for Humanity, Everybody Counts and Sophie’s Angel Run. She also recently went on mission trips to Honduras and New Orleans. Moorhead is involved in Campus Ministry, was on the golf team for three years, is a member of JETS (Junior Engineering Technical Society), a member of National Honor Society, on the prom committee, and is a tutor.
