DEATHS Robert Brewer Robert Burton Brewer, 97, of Crestview Hills, died Aug. 2 at his daughter’s home in Dalton, Georgia. He attended Virginia Military Institute before enlisting in the U.S. Army. During his World War II Army service, he served as a communications specialist aboard a Navy ship, spending most of his time in Italy. Following the war, he joined his father in the men’s clothing business working for the H.A. Seinsheimer Co. until his retirement. He was a founding member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder for many years. His wife, Ruth Stockler Brewer; sister, Cecil Fish; and brothers, Jack, Mac, Bill, Sam, and Tom, died previously. Survivors include his daughters, Barbara Brewer Powers of Crestview Hills and Betty Brewer Woodward of Dalton; and five grandchildren along with six great-grandchildren. Memorials: Lakeside Presbyterian Church, 2690 Dixie Highway, Lakeside Park, KY 41017.

Jack Burkett Jack Clifton Burkett, 86, of Villas Hills and formerly of Florence and Fort Wright, died July 30 after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was a retired tax accountant at Western and Southern Life Insurance Co. in Cincinnati as well as a retired attorney. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He was decorated for his action in the

battle of Chosin Reservoir. One of his favorite memories came in 2015 when he was gifted the opportunity to be part of the Tri-State Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. He was a competitive athlete throughout his life and took great pride in his accomplishments. He played football in high school and competed and won many awards for marathon running and body-building. He became part of the Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame in 2016. Survivors include his wife, Carol Ryan Burkett; children, Karen Griffin, Peggy Burkett, Terra Clem, and Lora Kuechler; and five grandchildren along with 11 great-grandchildren. Memorials: Any of the Northern Kentucky animal shelters.

Gerald Chambers Gerald S. Chambers, 63, of Villa Hills, died Aug. 1 at St. Elizabeth Hospice. He was a retired U.S. Postal Worker, where he was employed for 35 years, a U.S. Navy veteran, and a retired bus driver of more than 20 years for Kenton County Schools. He was active over the years in youth sports, serving as a founding member of the South Kenton Lions Football Organization, former president of the Simon Kenton Sideliners Club, and other activities of his children. He also enjoyed University of Kentucky basketball, boating, golf and NASCAR. His parents, John and Cecil Mae Chambers; and brother, John Chambers, died previously. Survivors include his wife,

Robin Matteoli Chambers; children, Chrissy Fitch, Cory Chambers, and Ryanne Ross; and seven grandchildren. Memorials: American Legion Moon Brothers Post 275, P.O. Box 36, Independence, KY 41051.

Jessie Deck Jessie Lee Deck, 75, of Independence and Milford, Maine, died July 9 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She retired from Osram Sylvania, where she worked as a machine operator. She fostered many children throughout her life and was always welcoming to anyone. She enjoyed gardening and being outdoors. Her husband, Leonard, died previously. Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Emro; son, Richard Taylor; sister, Ann Thompson and several other siblings; and seven grandchildren along with five great-grandchildren. Interment was in Old Town, Maine, at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Memorials: St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Kay Fobbe Kay Francis Hutchison Fobbe

, 75, of Edgewood, died July 30 at Regis Wood Care in Louisville. She retired from the City of Bellevue. Survivors include her sons, Louie McQuaig, Dennis McQuaig, Victor McQuaig, and Keith McQuaig; and 11 grandchildren along with several great-grandchildren. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery in Southgate.

Paul Kannady Paul David Kannady, 67, of Morning View, died Aug. 2 at Baptist Village Care Center in Erlanger. He was a retired systems technician for Cincinnati Bell, former telecommunications technician at Christ Hospital, former route driver for North Key Community Care, and a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, farming, camping and boating. He was a member of Nicholson Christian Church, the National Rifle Association, the Telephone

Sonja Fields Sonja L. Fields, 76, of Erlanger, died July 31 at St. Elizabeth Edgewood. She worked as a Realtor for more than 30 years for Coldwell Banker and Huff Realty. She also was a member of the Kentucky Federation of Woman’s Clubs and Northern Kentucky Association of Realtors. Her husband, Russell Fields II,

Pioneers of America, and the Kenton County Fair Board. His brother, Ronald Kannady, died previously. Survivors include his wife, Freda Agrue Kannady; daughter, Rebecca Lynn Kannady; son, Michael David Kannady; brothers, James Kannady and Robert Kannady; and two grandchildren. Burial was at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North in Williamstown. Memorials: Kentucky Stroke Association, 3425 Stony Spring Circle, Louisville, KY 40220.

His wife, Hazel Moore, died previously. Survivors include his daughters, Rose Spella, Bonnie Bromwell, and Connie Ngo; son, David Moore; sister, Alice Proffet; and four grandchildren along with six great-grandchildren, three great-greatgrandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and three step-greatgrandchildren. Interment with military honors was at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Memorials: American Cancer Society.

Margaret Moss

Walter Moore Jr., 89, of Winston Salem, North Carolina, and formerly of Taylor Mill, died July 31. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and retired from Kroger after 34 years of employment. He was a member of Ashland Avenue Baptist Church, Tri-City Sportsman Club in Alexandria, and he was a member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association in Vandalia, Ohio.

Margaret Moss, 90, of Fort Mitchell, died July 28. Her husband, Marvin Moss; and son, Dale Moss, died previously. Survivors include her daughter, Debbie Luckerman; and a granddaughter along with four great-grandchildren. Memorials: Alzheimer’s Association, 644 Linn St. Suite 1026, Cincinnati, OH 45203.
