Kentucky Speedway to rev up Clermont Chamber luncheon Tim Bray, director of Communications for the Kentucky Speedway, is the featured presenter at the Clermont Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon Friday, Dec. 10. In preparation for hosting its inaugural NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race July 9, 2011, the speedway is undergoing a $40-million expansion of its 850-acre property. Bray will give a
progress report on the preparation to accommodate the more than 100,000 expected fans. The speedway’s transformation includes two new grandstands to expand seating capacity from 66,000 to 105,000; new camping areas quadrupling the camping capacity, renovation of the visitor center, new concession and restroom facilities and addition-
al parking. The 2011 Kentucky Speedway schedule consists of two tripleheader weekends spotlighting the best in NASCAR and open-wheel action. The inaugural July 9 event is a 400-mile NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race that concludes an opening weekend showcasing the first Thursday night NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in speedway
history July 7th and a 300mile NASCAR Nationwide Series battle Friday, July 8. The second tripleheader combines a Saturday, Oct. 1, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race with a 300-mile IZOD IndyCar Series event and 100-mile Firestone Indy Lights dash Sunday, Oct. 2.
