If a bus is stopped on a street or road that has four or more lanes, only traffic proceeding in the same direction as the bus must stop. • If you fail to stop, the bus driver can report your license plate number and a description of you and your motor vehicle to the local law enforcement agency. The law enforcement agency will conduct an investigation to confirm the driver of the vehicle and can issue a traffic citation for the violation. • If you are issued a citation, you must appear in court, and you can be assessed a fine up to $500 and a maximum one-year license suspension. Some of them walk, some of them ride buses, some drive and others ride with their parents and friends. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is reminding motorists to drive safely as the summer comes to an end and the school year begins. All drivers usually encounter either a stopped school bus or drive through a school zone during a normal day. Be extra careful when driving this time of year. Pay attention for additional pedestrians walking along the roadways as the school year begins.
