scrambled to pull their weight for the show. Amidst the chaos, sophomore Skye Fowle felt the thrill of performance for the first time, cast as the female lead, Princess. “I’ve never really known what it’s like to be in a theater production so everything was super new and interesting to me like figuring out all of the warm ups and tech stuff and using mics. I didn’t expect, me being a first-timer, to get the lead role.” Prior to being cast in the big role, Fowle auditioned for Twisted on a whim with a friend. ”Something about the show was on the announcements one morning and Kaedee McAllister and I texted each other and were like, “What if we audition for the musical together?” and we ended up actually auditioning,” Fowle said. Fowle’s introduction to the world of musical theater and performance was a strong one. The program gave her a chance to experience new things and build friendships within the preforming arts community. Fowle found the most comfort in the theater community, the cast, and her co-stars including junior Bryce Merrill, cast as the main lead, Ja’far. “Bryce is interesting because he’s pretty timid but he also has a lot of passion and power when he’s performing and acting onstage,” Fowle said.

READ THROUGH Senior Dylan Blaylock reads through his script alongside his cast mates. Twisted being Blaylock’s last high school musical, he got particularly close with the cast, “One of the big things that keeps me coming back to these shows is honestly the people,” says Blaylock. photo by c. potter

Never having been in a production before, Fowle paid careful attention to how her cast mates did everything, “It’s been so interesting to see how people do what they do here and how passionate they are doing it,” Fowle said. photo by c. potter

TEAM EFFORT The whole cast comes together for an energetic group dance number. Throughout the process of building the show, the actors were reminded of the strength of the community. “We can come together and get through anything together.
