School Direct within REAP

Page 1

We are the four 11-18 comprehensive schools that make up the Rural Excellence Action Partnership. Our alliance is focused on improving educational experiences and outcomes for all, in our similar school communities. Our pupils come from towns and villages across the whole of rural West Cheshire, and represent the full range of abilities, educational needs, talents and aspirations. We share proven strengths in the core academic subjects, offer a broad and rich curriculum, and believe in the all-round development of every young person in our school community. Each school provides a full and varied programme of extra-curricular activities, clubs, enrichment and school trips and has excellent links with partner primary schools. Across our four schools, we already have a wealth of experience in successfully training teachers in a wide range of subjects, in partnership with the University of Chester. We assign you to mentors and coaches who are highly skilled and committed to working with you throughout your development as a teacher. You will join fully in the life of the school: • • • •

Be part of a supportive and high-performing team of subject specialists Experience learning beyond the classroom with trips and out-of-school activities Join a pastoral team and be involved in the life of a tutor group Learn together with our teaching staff on tailored professional development programmes.

School Direct places are offered in the English Baccalaureate subjects, where there is a strong track record of achievement across our 4 schools. Additionally in 2014-15 we will be offering places in Drama and Design Technology. •

Success for all in Mathematics and English is reflected in the achievement of all abilities at GCSE, and a higher than average proportion of students progressing to A level and to English or Mathematics-based University courses.

In Sciences, we offer a range of courses to suit the full ability range. High numbers of students take separate sciences at GCSE, with high standards of achievement. A high proportion of students progress through to A level and beyond to read science-based courses at University.

We offer high quality provision for the teaching of a range of languages at GCSE, including French, German, Spanish, Italian, Mandarin Chinese, Latin, Greek, Japanese, from entry to A level; high calibre linguists progressing from A level success to University.

Geography and History are very popular and high-performing subjects, with almost all our pupils opting to taking one or both to GCSE and enjoying a varied programme of field trips and visits both abroad and in the UK.

You will be joining a supportive professional learning community where all teachers, new and experienced, continually review and develop their practice in the pursuit of excellence, through open dialogue with each other and with our pupils. All four schools have a culture of regular lesson observation by subject leaders. Peer observations are also well-developed and there is a commitment by teachers to sharing resources, feedback, planning and evaluation of strategies in order to enhance the quality of learning.
