919-868-9222 Clayton’s Newest Attraction Calling all walkers, joggers and bikers! If you havenʼt experienced the Clayton River Walk on the Neuse you are missing out! The Town of Clayton recently completed a 4 mile stretch of trail that extends from the Wake/Johnston County Line to beyond Covered Bridge Road connecting with the 1.25 mile Samʼs Branch Greenway. This scenic trail which parallels the Neuse River is a section of the 1,000 mile Mountains-to-Sea Trail which runs from North Carolinaʼs Great Smokey Mountains National Park to Jockeys Ridge State Park on the Outer Banks.
Escape the hustle and bustle of daily life! Park your car at the new trailhead parking lot off Covered Bridge Road, grab a bottle of water and embark on your journey. Take the trail down to the River, turn right and you can take the 32 mile trek to Falls Lake Dam in Raleigh or go left and head towards the Town of Clayton.
Either direction, it is gorgeous and delightful! The trails wind through the woods and along the river and allow you to enjoy the beauty of our area! You will join runners and bikers enjoying a workout. The famous “On Your Left” cry alerts you to move right and allow approaching runners and bikers to pass on your left side!
