What Makes Steven Run

Unbeknown to many, our talented pastry chef Steven Leong is a keen runner. In fact, he stays in Woodlands and runs to work and back every day. That’s one way to burn calories and definitely ‘earn’ dessert!

SWEET TASTE OF JOB SATISFACTION

A married man of 36, Steven is Singaporean born and bred. He has worked extensively in hotels, bakeries and high-end restaurants. Prior to joining the Swiss Club in September last year, he was working at Salt Grill with our Chef de Cuisine Razy.

At the Club, he prepares a wide variety of cakes, cookies, pies, breads and plated desserts, using both traditional and innovative techniques and recipes.

“I like to create new and exciting desserts to renew our menus and engage the interest of customers, while not forgetting their dietary requirements,” said Steven.

His own harshest judge, Steven is grateful when his self-doubt is dispelled by words of encouragement from his superiors and colleagues. Of course, Members’ compliments make his day.

“When you have good bosses who truly understand you, every day is an enjoyable day!” shared Steven, obviously a happy man.

NEW DESSERTS EVERY MONTH

Naturally, Steven places great importance on desserts (‘stressed’ spelled backwards).

“I find happiness, satisfaction and fulfillment in continuously serving people something good to eat for dessert,” said Steven, who believes that a stellar desserts menu is what makes a good Club or dining establishment truly great. It is the final flavour that lingers, after all.

Steven urges all Members to try the Club’s dessert specials, which will be changed monthly on a regular basis. How sweet is that!
