A Slightly Diferent Class Camp for Primary 5/6

At the beginning of the second semester of each school year, the students of Primary 5/6 usually take a week of from school to go on an outdoor-based trip to the Malaysian Island of Pulau Sibu. This year’s trip had a twist to it.

FROM ISLAND-HOPPING TO FILM-MAKING

The objectives of this annual trip are for students to strengthen their team-building skills, learn how to survive in nature, and experience an adventure away from home. However, given the prevailing safety measures and travel restrictions, a trip to Pulau Sibu was out of the question this year.

Instead, the students of Primary 5/6 explored Singapore with the aim of producing and editing a video by the end of the week.

CULTURE, NATURE, LITERATURE

In the course of one action-packed week, the students went on an excursion through historic Kampong Glam, walked through nature reservoirs, took part in a writer’s workshop to write their own introduction to a thriller book, and visited the National Museum. They ended the week with a showcase of their self-produced videos and a presentation of their gripping introductions to thrillers.

Despite not leaving Singapore’s shores, it was an exciting and successful week that proved just how much our sunny little island nation has to ofer. INTERESTED IN A PERSONALISED SCHOOL TOUR OR AN INFORMAL CHAT?
