This fast paced comedy musical centres on Red Skelton and his efforts to win back his fiancé after someone else’s mischief leads to their breakup, and she flees to work at an all girls school to avoid him. A wholesome comedy, suitable for all ages. Sychronised swimming, snappy one liners, and ‘big band music’ feature heavily. 27 March THE BLOB The early 1958 colour American ‘Monster’ movie. A meteor lands outside a small town, and only teenagers seem to be worried enough to do something about it. See Steve McQueen (oldest teenager ever) and his friends try save the town, despite the army coming in to help. 24 April SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTIANS This 1964 film Martian ruler Kimar (Leonard Hicks) is upset that the children of Mars are lazy and under the influence of too much pop culture from Earth. They are obsessed with the planet’s television programs and don’t want to do much of anything. In an attempt to get the kids peppy again, Kimar orders the kidnapping of Santa Claus (John Call). But two Earth children are also nabbed, and this complicates things for Kimar.
