• The Chiefs registered improvement in over 30 different categories during the 2009 campaign compared to 2008. Here is a breakdown of those team, offensive, defensive and special teams areas where Kansas City made the most dramatic progress in 2009.

• The 75th Annual NFL Player Selection Meeting is scheduled for April 22-24 in New York, NY. • The 2010 NFL Draft will take place over a three-day span. • Round 1 will begin at 6:30 PM (Central) on Thursday, April 22nd. • Rounds 2-3 will begin at 5:30 PM (Central) on Friday, April 23rd. • Rounds 4-7 will begin at 9:00 AM (Central) on Saturday, April 24th. • Time limits for each pick per round are as follows: Round 1 (10 minutes), Round 2 (seven minutes) and Rounds 3-7 (five minutes). • Kansas City currently holds the fifth overall selection in the 2009 NFL Draft. • Two of the Chiefs selections in the 2009 NFL Draft were named to the Pro Football Weekly/PWFA All-Rookie Team: DE Tyson Jackson (D1-09) and K Ryan Succop (D7c-09).

2009 CHIEFS TEAM SUPERLATIVES • The Chiefs led the NFL in Red Zone scoring efficiency, scoring on 89.5% (34 of 38) of their Red Zone possessions. • The Chiefs ranked eighth in the league with 84 penalties in 2009, marking the sixth time KC has finished in the top 10 in fewest penalties since 2001. • Kansas City was third in the NFL with only eight special teams penalties. • KC tied for third in the NFL with five return TDs in 2009. • Kansas City ranked fifth in the NFL with 118 fourth-quarter points in 2009. THE 2010 SCHEDULE

CHARLES IN CHARGE

• In 2010, the Chiefs will play four games against three teams that qualified for the 2009 playoffs – Arizona, Indianapolis and San Diego. • Arizona will travel to Kansas City in the regular season for the first time since suffering a 49-0 loss (12/1/02). • San Francisco will visit Arrowhead for the first time since suffering a 41-0 loss (10/1/06). • The Chiefs home schedule in 2010 will also include appearances by a pair of AFC South opponents in Tennessee and Jacksonville. • Based on Kansas City’s division finish in 2009, the Chiefs will host Buffalo at Arrowhead for the third consecutive season in 2010. • Kansas City won its most recent games against Oakland and Denver, and will be seeking to snap a five-game losing streak against San Diego. • The Chiefs will make their first-ever appearance at Lucas Oil Stadium as Kansas City will face the AFC South and AFC champion Indianapolis Colts. • Kansas City will travel to Seattle for the first time since 2002. • A Governor’s Cup contest at St. Louis is on the club’s 2010 itinerary. • The Chiefs will make their fourth all-time regular season visit to Houston. • Based on the club’s division finish, KC will travel to Cleveland in 2010.

• RB Jamaal Charles became the youngest player to win the Derrick Thomas Award as Kansas City’s MVP in 2009. • Charles became the first NFL player to register 1,100 or more rushing yards in a season on less than 200 attempts. He had 1,120 yards on 190 carries. • Charles set the franchise single-game rushing record with 259 yards at Denver (1/3/10). • Charles finished the year with 2,342 combined net yards, the second-highest seasonal total in franchise history. • His 5.89 yards-per-carry average ranked as the second-highest seasonal mark in KC annals (min. 100 atts.). • In the final eight games of the season, only Titans RB Chris Johnson (1,047) rushed for more yards than Charles (968), while only Johnson (1,388) produced more yards from scrimmage (1,126). • Only Johnson (9) and Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (9) scored more total touchdowns than Charles (8) in the season’s final eight games.

MORE INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS • QB Matt Cassel threw 16 TDs, tying as the third-highest total by a first-year passer in Chiefs history. • LB Tamba Hali registered career highs with 8.5 sacks and 66 tackles. • CB Brandon Flowers led the team with a career-high five INTs. • K Ryan Succop joined K Jan Stenerud (’67) as the second kicker in franchise history to earn the Mack Lee Hill Award as the club’s top first-year player. • Succop connected on 86.2% (25 of 29) of his FGs, tying as the highest FG make pct. by a rookie since the AFL-NFL merger (min. 20 attempts). • Succop finished the season with 104 points, leading all NFL rookies in scoring. It tied for the second-highest total by a rookie in franchise history. • P Dustin Colquitt established a Chiefs single-season record with a 40.78-yard net punting average, breaking the mark of P Jerrel Wilson (40.00 in ’68). • Colquitt had a franchise-record 41 punts inside the 20, one shy of the NFL single-season record of 42. • Colquitt led the NFL with 22 downed punts.


2009 REGULAR SEASON REVIEW CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD CLARK HUNT • Entering his sixth season as Chairman of the Board, Clark Hunt represents the interests of the Hunt family in the Kansas City Chiefs franchise. • Hunt is currently directing the expansion and renovation of the New Arrowhead, an extensive modernization project which will keep Kansas City “The Home of the Chiefs” for decades to come. • In 2007, Commissioner Roger Goodell appointed Hunt to the NFL’s Digital Media and International Committees, as well as the Executive Committee of the NFL Management Council. • Hunt served on the eight-member Commissioner Search Committee that recommended a successor to former Commissioner Paul Tagliabue in 2006. • The Hunt family has made a combined personal financial contribution of $125 million in both the development of the New Arrowhead and the club’s new practice facility. • The Dallas, Texas native is also a founding investor-operator in Major League Soccer. • Hunt serves as Chairman of Hunt Sports Group, the parent company that oversees the F.C. Dallas and Columbus Crew MLS franchises. • Hunt Sports Group has been at the forefront of stadium development in the United States, constructing America’s first soccer-specific stadium, Crew Stadium which opened in Columbus in ’99. In 2005, Hunt Sports Group opened Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas. The homefield of F.C. Dallas serves as the crown jewel of a 117-acre soccer complex which features 17 adjacent championship-quality fields. • Hunt finished first in his class at Southern Methodist University in ’87 and earned first-team Academic All-America honors his junior and senior seasons as a member of the soccer team. • Hunt currently serves on the SMU Board of Trustees, as well as the Cox School of Business Executive Board of Trustees at SMU. • Hunt and his wife, the former Tavia Shackles of Kansas City, are actively involved in numerous philanthropic efforts. The Chiefs Charity Game and Lift Up America are just two of several causes that have benefitted from the Hunts’ efforts.

THE NEW ARROWHEAD – NEW BODY, SAME SOUL A RENOVATED AND MODERNIZED “HOME OF THE CHIEFS” • Slated for its grand opening in 2010, the New Arrowhead embodies the Chiefs passion for creating an engaging and interactive entertainment environment for every fan. Thanks to the vision of the Chiefs and creativity of internationally-recognized architects Populous, Chiefs fans will enjoy an unparalleled gameday experience at the New Arrowhead. • While fans will find a familiar view from their seats, virtually everything else will be new and improved – the addition of the Horizon Level, a new Founder’s Club, a luxurious VIP Club Level, an upgraded sound system, a 360-degree video ribbon board, concourses doubled in size, additional restrooms, an upgraded variety of food and beverage options, a new team store and the Chiefs Sports Lab, an interactive learning experience for students of all ages. • Since originally opening its gates in ’72, these improvements are the structure’s first major renovation in nearly 40 years. The New Arrowhead is a state of the art sports and entertainment destination that will serve as the setting for future generations of shared experiences and celebrations of America’s favorite sport – the National Football League.

THE FOUNDER’S PLAZA • Forming a dramatic entrance to the north side of the New Arrowhead will be the expansive Founder’s Plaza, a tribute to Chiefs Founder Lamar Hunt, who was also the driving force behind the formation of the American Football League. • The Founder’s Plaza is an engaging outdoor area that will serve as a meeting place for Chiefs fans, and will serve as a lasting reminder of Hunt’s contributions to the game. • The Plaza’s many features will commemorate the AFL’s formation. At its center will be a large AFL logo built into a decorative pavement flanked by eight fountains that symbolize the league’s eight original franchises. • A nine-foot heroic sculpture of Hunt, designed by Bruce Wolfe, will greet visitors and fans as they make their way across grounds that will include bronze plaques highlighting Hunt’s many innovations in pro football, soccer and tennis. • A three-dimentional diagram of Pro Football Hall of Fame Head Coach Hank Stram’s famous “65 Toss Power Trap” play from Super Bowl IV will highlight the plaza’s entrance to the stadium.

CHIEFS HALL OF HONOR • Chiefs fans will be able to relive some of the most exciting moments in Chiefs and pro football history at the all new Chiefs Hall of Honor. • Fifty years of franchise history will fill this themed area in the lower level concourse, enabling fans to revisit football memories dating back to the franchise’s first days of existence. • Exhibits will include the club’s Lombardi Trophy from Super Bowl IV, the original AFL Championship trophy, original seats and artifacts from Municipal Stadium, a journey through Lamar Hunt’s creation of the AFL, a virtual locker room featuring Chiefs Hall of Famers, as well as a re-creation of Arrowhead’s original Gold Suite and much more. • Video and interactive displays will allow fans to watch the team’s unforgettable moments and allow visitors to feel the energy and passion that makes the New Arrowhead the home of the best gameday experience in the NFL.


2009 REGULAR SEASON REVIEW HEAD COACH TODD HALEY • Todd Haley was named the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs by Chairman of the Board Clark Hunt on February 6, 2009. • Haley enters his 16th season in the National Football League and his 14th campaign in a coaching capacity in 2010. He enjoyed previous NFL coaching experience with Arizona (2007-08), Dallas (2004-06), Chicago (2001-03) and the N.Y. Jets (’97-00), earning playoff berths with each of those franchises. • Of the nine first-time NFL head coaches in their first full season in 2009, Haley was one of just three of those coaches to register an improvement of at least two wins compared to the prior season’s record. Jim Caldwell (Indianapolis) and Jim Schwartz (Detroit) were the others. • The Chiefs registered improvement in 30 different categories during the 2009 campaign compared to 2008. • Under Haley’s leadership, the Chiefs improved in over 25 different categories over the final eight games of the 2009 campaign compared to the first eight contests. • The Chiefs offense averaged 21.0 points per game the final eight games of the season, an improvement of 5.2 ppg. • Kansas City produced 346.3 yards per game in the second half of the 2009 campaign, 86.2 more yards per game than the first eight games of the season. • The Chiefs averaged 142.6 rushing yards per game over the last eight games of the 2009 season, an improvement of 44.1 ypg compared to the season’s final eight contests. Kansas City also averaged 5.2 yards per carry in the season’s last eight games. • Kansas City led the NFL with a 89.5% Red Zone scoring efficiency (34 of 38), tied for third with five return TDs, ranked fifth with 118 fourth-quarter points and finished eighth in the league with 84 penalties in 2009. • Under Haley’s direction the Chiefs ranked 11th in the NFL in rushing (120.6 ypg) in 2009. • Kansas City’s defense ranked eighth in three-and-out percentage (24.4) and 15th in third-down defense (38.1%) in 2009 after ranking 31st in those categories in 2008. • The Chiefs improved to 12th in 2009 from 29th in 2008 in the comprehensive NFL special teams rankings compiled by Rick Gosselin of the Dallas Morning News. Only three teams (Dallas, Miami and Arizona) showed more dramatic improvement in those rankings than the Chiefs in 2009. • Helped Arizona reach Super Bowl XLIII as that club’s offensive coordinator, marking the first time the franchise had advanced to the NFL title game since ’47. • Haley joined Ken Whisenhunt’s staff in Arizona after serving a three-year stint as Passing Game Coordinator/Wide Receivers coach for Dallas (2004-06). In 2006, the Cowboys offense ranked fourth in the NFL in passing (239.8 ypg). • Haley joined Bill Parcells’ staff in Dallas after a three-year tour of duty as wide receivers coach for Chicago (2001-03). In 2001, the Bears went 13-3 and won the NFC Central for the first time since ’90 as WR Marty Booker set a single-season franchise record with 100 catches. • Haley’s initial NFL experience came as a member of the N.Y. Jets (’95-00), where he served as that club’s wide receivers coach from ’99-00. In his initial season in that capacity, he helped WR Keyshawn Johnson earn his second straight Pro Bowl berth. • He began his association with General Manager Scott Pioli when Pioli served as Director of Pro Personnel for that club from ’97-99. • Haley received the 2009 University of North Florida Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award, the highest award given by the UNF Alumni Association. The honor is presented annually to graduates who have reached a significant level of accomplishment in their profession or community.

A FOOTBALL FAMILY • Owning a distinguished football pedigree, Haley is the son of Dick Haley, a 43-year NFL veteran as a player and personnel executive. • The younger Haley spent his formative years in Pittsburgh, immersed in football with his father and the Steelers organization. A former ballboy for the Steelers, Haley spent many summers as a youth at training camp with the club, and frequently watched film alongside his father. In attendance for many of the greatest games in Steelers history, he later served as a member of the Steelers chain gain on gamedays during his teenage years. • Haley’s father enjoyed stints as the Director of Player Personnel for Pittsburgh (’71-90) and the N.Y. Jets (’91-02), a Personnel Consultant for the Jets (200307) and is currently a Player Personnel Analyst for the Miami Dolphins. He was an NFL cornerback from ’59-64. • The elder Haley was one of the architects of the great Steelers teams of the ’70s. Haley’s ’74 draft class with Pittsburgh featured four Hall of Famers – LB Jack Lambert, C Mike Webster, as well as WRs Lynn Swann and John Stallworth. He also selected Hall of Fame LB Jack Ham in ’71 and tabbed Hall of Fame RB Franco Harris in ’72, forming the nucleus of a team that would claim four Super Bowl crowns over a six-year span from ’74-79.

He registered a 97-yard kickoff return TD, tying for the fifth-longest kickoff return in franchise history. Charles is the first kick returner for the Chiefs to win the special teams award since WR Dante Hall in Week 16 of the 2004 season. • LB Derrick Johnson was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his play in a 44-24 win at Denver (1/3/10) where he registered two INT returns for TDs and amassed 105 INT return yards. Johnson becomes just the third LB in NFL history and the 25th player overall to record two INT TD returns in one game. He is just the third player in Chiefs history to accomplish this feat. It is Johnson’s second-consecutive season to win the honor. • Charles was named the FedEx Ground Player of the Week for his performance in Kansas City’s 44-24 Week 17 victory at Denver (1/3/10). Charles ran for a single-game franchise-record 259 yards and a career-high two TDs. He is the first player to win the award since RB Larry Johnson in Week Four of 2008.
