All About Gillette Area Leadership Institute (G.A.L.I.) The Gillette Area Leadership Institute is a nine-month leadership course offered by the Campbell County Chamber of Commerce. The purpose is to provide Gillette and Campbell County with informed, dedicated individuals that are prepared to assume leadership roles within the community, enhancing the quality of life for all residents. G.A.L.I. sessions begin in September and are held the third Wednesday of every month. The application process occurs in June and July to set the class. Please look on www.gillettechamber.com for more information. The class begins with a retreat in September. The retreat is designed for the class to get to know one another and hear from community leaders. Monthly sessions include Agriculture and Energy, Social Responsibility, Local Government, Healthcare, Ethics and the Judicial System, Education and Media and Quality of Life. In February each year, the class travels to Cheyenne for the Legislative Session. While there, they meet the Governor in a private setting, observe the House and Senate in action and spend a day in Guernsey at the military base. Outside of the sessions, participants are required to attend board meetings and perform volunteer work. Each class also takes on a class project that benefits the community. G.A.L.I. requires an extensive time commitment. The reward is a more complete understanding of the community.
