Area 59 The sky’s the limit at Area 59 Area 59 is Wyoming’s largest maker space. The facility includes a traditional wood shop with several CNC routers, which allows the maker to add computer aided design and production to projects; a modern machine shop with traditional mills and lathes and four CNC milling machines; and a metal working area that houses a five by eight foot plasma cutter. The building offers state-of-the-art equipment including: • Two robotic arms • Six large 3D printers • 3D scanner • Three laser cutters/etchers • 20 laptop workstations equipped with AutoCAD and the Adobe Suite • Classroom space • Woodworking shop • Metalsmithing shop Hands-on learning for students and the community, Gillette College also utilizes Area 59 to host camps for K-12 students to explore STEM fields in a creative setting. Gillette College students and local entrepreneurs are able to test out innovative ideas without the financial risk of purchasing their own equipment. Area 59 is a place where anyone and everyone can come in with an idea and leave with a finished product.
