Methodological and Ecclesiological Questions in Moral Theo/ogy
Moral theo/ogy faces two major problems today: methodology and the magisterium.
The strong negative reaction to the papal encyclical Humanae Vitae condemning artificial contraception brings to the fore the two major problems facing moral theology today: moral methodology and the teaching function of the Church in moral matters. The ecumenical aspect of ali theological scholarship today is also emphasized by the fact that in the current literature these are the major problems facing Protestant ethicians.
