Orbert Davis’ Chicago Jazz Philharmonic Chamber Ensemble Performs Award-Winning Music from DuSable to Obama: Chicago’s Black Metropolis

Chicago Jazz Philharmonic Chamber Ensemble, in conjunction with University of Chicago Presents, premieres the first live performance of artistic director Orbert Davis’ Emmy-winning score to the 2010 WTTW television documentary, DuSable to Obama: Chicago’s Black Metropolis, at the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts at the University of Chicago on February 16, 2013. Two performances will be held, a shorter, family-friendly matinee ideal for children aged 7 and up at 2 pm, and a full performance at 7:30 pm. The 19-member Ensemble performance will feature guest artists Maggie Brown and Ari Brown, plus video highlights from the documentary telling the compelling story of the development of Chicago’s AfricanAmerican culture and its impact on the nation. Family matinee tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children under 17. Full evening performance tickets are $35 general admission and $10 for students with valid ID.
