Bloom Bloom is a ceiling lamp that works in tandem with an IR sensor. Its petals are able to open and close depending on the values the sensor detects, making the lamp bloom.

ELECTRIC CABLE The cable is 3m long, as Bloom is meant to be used in spaces with high ceilings, such as museums, conference rooms and libraries, but it can be shortened as necessary.

SUPPORTING CABLE LIGHTBULB HOLDER Here is where the key elements come together to form the lamp; it’s where the lightbulb is connected to the electric cable, where the support cable ends and also where the petals are connected. To allow the latters to move, this piece presents a groove.

MOVING PETALS

LED LIGHTBULB To avoid jamming the signals detected by the IR sensor, the lightbulb must not emit heat. This makes the Led Lightbulb ideal. On top of that, this kind of lightbulb is also dimmerable, which helps to create a cozy workspace.

When the IR Sensor detects a presence inside its range, the lamps on top of the perceived object will start to bloom, lighting up.

If the object remains sedentary, Bloom will stay at its highest aperture, whilst if the object is moving the lamps will follow it, opening and closing as it goes. This is the reason behind the name of the lamp; in fact, if the person were to look up, they would see that wherever they walked, flowers would bloom.

BRAND: FINDER The brand “Finder“ develops numerous models of IR Sensors, for internal and external spaces, by proposing various versions, to apply on walls or on the ceiling. In this case the sensor needs to be attached to the wall, and for this project it should be used when the lamps are installed in long hallways or small areas, such as the ones leading to conference rooms and display rooms.

The sphere at the end of the pivot allows the single metal parts that create the petal to be moved individually in z direction.
