HILDREN at the Child Welfare Port Shepstone will be given plenty of reasons to smile this Christmas after a generous outpouring of support from the community. The South Coast community is so impressed with the novel Toys R Us, Gift of Awwwesome initiative, they opened their hearts by donating new toys to less fortunate children. The call to action was put out in a bid to spread festive cheer to local children who faced the possibility of not having a single present to open. With the generous support of customers, the Toys R Us store at South Coast Mall exceeded expectations by collecting 154 toys for Child Welfare Port Shepstone – beating their target by more than 50 in a record time of two weeks. The initiative, which was launched three years ago, encourages customers to purchase and donate toys for underprivileged children at Toys R Us and Babies R Us stores nationwide. “Our customers’ response to the initiative was so positive, some even posted details on their social media accounts to encourage others to get

grammes as well as life-skills training. Sagree Naicker, manager of Child Welfare Port Shepstone, expressed immense gratitude to those who supported the Gift of Awwwesome drive. “Child Welfare social workers will hand out the gifts to the 100 children and the balance will be distributed to
other less fortunate children in rural areas,” explained Naicker. “We are so impressed with the kindness and generosity of the community and couldn’t believe just how many people donated a gift to help those most in need. The Christmas spirit is well and truly alive on the South Coast,” said marketing manager, Nicole Annells.
